If you want to sterilize bottles and pacifiers this is the product to have. It is very quick - 5 minutes in our microwave and you are done. Yes, you can put these items in the dishwasher but I hate to run the DW for just a load of bottles. You also need to have a special basket to keep the various bottle parts from falling to the bottom of the dishwasher.Yes, there is condensation, but we keep a bottle rack next to the sink and let them air dry for a few hours. If you hand washed you would also have to let them air dry so I really don't see the point of this complaint. Avent is very durable - we have had ours over 3 years now and have been doing bottles daily and it has not cracked or broken. Child #3 is on the way so we will be using it for at least another two years.

I bought this product because I found that boiling the bottles didn't get them very clean- it didn't help that I would forget about the bottles, and a film would develop on them if left in while the water cooled off. With this sterilizer, I can clean several bottles, rings, nipples, sealing discs, and the pump with ease. And if you forget about them after the microwave stops, everything in the sterilizer stays sterile for three hours (even I normally remember them by then!) Of course, using a dishwasher is much easier- and the dishwasher gets everything dry. But since I don't have a dishwasher, nor do I have the kicthen space to get one, this is a great option. When everything is sterilized, I dry it all off with Viva paper towels- they are soft like a towel, yet don't create the smudges that a towel can. Plus, since paper towels are single-use, they are cleaner than even the cleanest cloth towel. If you do have an automatic dishwasher, this may not be the product for you- unless you would prefer to clean the bottles without having to wait to get a full load of dishes in the dishwasher. But for me this is great- no more boiling!
Rating: - SO EASY
I used to HATE sterilizing bottles. Now it is a cinch. 1. Place the bottles, pacifiers, pump accesories, etc. in the unit. Even has premade places to put AVENT bottles and accessories. Also, works great with Medela pump system. 2. Add 7 oz of water, which I measure out with my bottles. 3. Microwave for 4-7 minutes(according to microwave wattage. 4. Walk away. No waiting for water to boil or chasing tiny parts or anything for that matter out of boiling water. 5. Allow to cool for 2 minutes. First Years drying rack works great with this. Handles would be a nice addition to help remove from the microwave, but otherwise it is such a GREAT product that that almost seems like a mute point.
