Rating: - Kind of pricey but well worth it
This wasn't the carrier I had put on my baby registry but my mom heard good stuff about it (she's a Labor and Delivery nurse) and bought it for me. Ever since Emily was born she has liked it. I liked how I could look down at her when she was facing me and how it supported her neck. She didn't like her stroller much before so I used this a lot when she was just a newborn just to go shopping or run errands. Emily is now 5 1/2 months and faces forward and loves riding in it and watching everything. I wore it hiking in Colorado and she had a blast. My best friend bought a different carrier and was very disappointed with how she needed an extra hand to put her baby in it. When she tried the Baby Bjorn she was amazed at how much easier it is to put on and how much more comfortable it is to wear. I'm 5'2" and my husband is 6'4" and we can both wear the Baby Bjorn comfortably. The only thing that isn't so great about wearing it is how hot it gets. Emily and I both get really hot but it doesn't seem to bother her too much. Otherwise this is a really useful item plus it doesn't look as tacky or obnoxious as some of the other carriers I've seen.
Rating: - and a punkymom loves the red plaid...
my little girl LOVES going everywhere in this and is super comfortable in it even now at 14 pounds. it's ideal not just for going to the grocery store or whathaveyou, but when she's feeling extra fussy, wants to be held but your arms are about to give out! the added bonus - i love the red plaid. even dad will wear it occasionally.
Rating: - Wonderful product, but I wouldn't buy it again.
This carrier is easy to use, comfortable, and a cinch to adjust, but I suspect that all carriers are eventually going to put a strain on the wearer's back. So a word to the wise: really consider how you'll use a soft carrier before you invest in one. We have found that transporting our son in a stroller is usually prefferable to using the carrier since neither of us is keen on lugging around another 17 pounds for very long. This should probably be a "wait and see if you need it" item. (Or buy it used.) Also, if you use a carrier, be sure to monitor your baby's temperature. We found that our son got overly warm very quickly when snuggled so close to us.That said, we did use this product when our son was tiny and wasn't happy unless he was held, but that only happened a few times. I also used it when traveling by airplane. Since we had quick layovers, it was easier to just strap on the baby and go rather than fuss with a stroller. And I felt more secure, knowing exactly where he was at all times. My son seems to be comfortable in the carrier and would always fall asleep when he was a newborn, but I bet we've used it less than a dozen times. **As a side note for those of you looking at the size requirements, I'll tell you that I am a size 20W, and my husband is 6'6" and 275lbs, and the carrier fits us both perfectly with plenty of room to spare.
