Instead of expressing my view on the opinion of PLEASE READ THIS who obviously did not check consumer reports or do much research, I can tell you this: My husband and I purchased this seat after an exhaustive search for the ABSOLUTE safest car seat we could find. Consumer Reports rates this seat among its top 3 best - the Graco, Britax and Evenflo all have excellent ratings in crash tests however, my husband and I made the decision to purchase the Evenflo Triumph 5 based on fit to our 11 month old daughter, its rating and its mid price point (we would NEVER skimp on our daughter's safety)- The Graco and Britax, while both excellent seats, did not fit her well. This past Thursday evening, 6/5/03, we were involved in a 5 car accident that caused my SUV to become airborne and land on its side (it's totalled!) - the one person out of all the people in 5 cars NOT HURT was our daughter! She never moved in this seat and came out without a scratch on her! I give the EVENFLO TRIUMPH 5 - 5 STARS - my husband ran to Babies R US the next day and purchased another seat - we are sold until 40lbs on this seat. And to preach a little - make sure EVERYONE in your vehicle WEARS a SEATBELT - that saved my husband and myself from great harm! Please do your research and make sure you have a good fit for YOUR CHILD and YOUR VEHICLE. I cannot say enough good things about the EVENFLO Triumph 5. Highly recommended! Rating: - Very Pleased My husband and I bought this seat for our 7 month old daughter. We researched seats online and checked them out in the store and thought the Triumph was the best choice. We have been using the seat for a while now and love it. It was easy to install rear facing in our 97 Toyota Camry and is very secure. We did have to put it in the middle seat area but I have been told by car seat inspectors that this is the safest place for the seat anyway and it's also where we had her infant car seat. When necessary it's easy to adjust the straps when she's in it and we've had little trouble getting her in and out without adjusting the staps even when she sleeping. I do agree with some other reviews that the buckle between her legs is longer than most but because this seat received very high safety marks from testers I'm not concerned. However if she was any smaller than what she is I'm not sure that the seat would work well. She's currently 7 months, 17 pounds and 27 inches. I would buy this seat again if I had it to do over. Rating: - Safe and secure I bought this seat when my daughter outgrew her infant carrier. I chose this seat largely due to the reviews on this site. The seat fits securely in my car and my daughter is very comfortable in it. The tension knobs on the side make it much easier to loosen and tighten the harness in a rear facing position than most other seats. I did not use the memory harness feature during the winter as I often had to readjust the tension depending on what my daughter was wearing, i.e. snowsuit, heavy coat, etc. I can see that feature being handy during the summer though tightening the straps is not difficult. As with any seat getting used to all the seat's features take some getting used to, but once you understand the configuration of everything it is not a difficult seat to use. The cover is completely removeable for easy cleaning. I also like the fact that it has a five point harness, standard buckle instead of a puzzle buckle, and that the shoulder straps are double. I know some people have mentioned that these things makes it more difficult to use; I feel that it all adds to the level of protection. I also felt that this seat was reasonably priced. I think both my daughter and I feel safe and secure when she is in her seat.
