Average Rating: Rating: - A great gift My sister-in-law bought the kit for me as a shower present and at the time I thought "Oh, that's nice". But now I understand what a great idea it was. My son came down with a fever and of course it was at 2AM. When I called the doctor I was told to give him Motrin. If it hadn't been for the kit my poor husband would have been driving around trying to find a 24hour pharmacy. The only thing this kit doesn't include is a tranqualizer for the panic stricken first time mom!!! Rating: - A definite must - have with all the extras! This is the greatest thing for new moms. Not only are the medicines/products excellent, but all the little extras are fantastic. The nail clippers work the best out of the 2 I already had, the nasal aspirator does not compare to any I've ever seen (very soft, small tip to actually do the job), the forehead fever indicator is VERY handy for a squirmy baby, and we're still waiting to try the teething ring but I like the fact that it is small and will fit into a baby's hands. When I purchased this kit, I thought I was just getting the medicine. It was a complete surprise to have all these additional items and a book to refer to for illnesses. The tummy drops, saline drops, and nose gel all work great. I can't wait to give this kit as a gift - it is so practical and useful! Rating: - Some Things I love and Others I don't This set has it's good products and it's bad, such as every other set on the market today. My daughter is 6 months old and we've used some things quite a bit. The saline spray is very good and helped both times my daughter had a cold with a stuffed nose. The nasal aspirator is the best I've used. I like that the tip is soft and bendable so it doesn't hurt my daughter. She hates when we use it and moves around alot. Others I have, have a hard tip, which I feel will poke her. The teething gel also worked well.....as well as any teething gel works. The teether she didn't care for. The mosturizing nasal gel is a plus, since her nose got irritated when she was sick. However, you can use baby lotion or petroleum jelly . The gel seemed to wear off quickly.(I actually tried it. My daughter and I were sick at the same time.) The gas relief drops I've never had to use, so I can't comment on their effectiveness. As for the decongestant and the cold formula....both are USELESS. They can't be used until your child is 2, unless specified by your doctor. They are going to expire before my daughter turns 2, so I gave them to my sister in law who has older children. My doctor says babies under 2 shouldn't be given these products anyway. He opts for vaporizers, saline drops and the aspirator as all a baby needs for a cold, unless they have a fever. Now if your child does, you NEED children's Tylenol. When they get certain immunizations, they need tylenol. Seems like an important one that got left out of this kit. The book that comes with this kit seems great, but I've never needed it when my daughter was sick. I am a first time mom but all the info this booklet provided, I had already read somewhere else. I read almost everything about babies while I was pregnant. However, it is a valuable addition. So, some things I absolutely love, and some I find pointless. One word of advice is to purchase baby Tylenol as well. This kit is good but not complete, by far.
