Average Rating: Rating: - substitute probe covers I also was having trouble finding replacement probe covers for this model of thermometer. So I e-mailed Safety 1st's consumer relations department, and, happily, I received a reply the next day. Although Safety 1st no longer carries this model, I was told that CVS makes a cover that fits this thermometer (CVS brand UPC # 50428 01604). If, like me, you live in a city that doesn't have a CVS, you can get them online at cvs.com. Do a search for 16048 and that will take you to the CVS brand of this type of probe cover. A box of 40 was $5.99, and with S/H, the total was less than $11. Cheap compared to a whole new thermometer. I hope this helps some of my fellow parents. Rating: - Disappointed We bought this thermometer for our first child b/c we had heard so much about the ease of these types of thermometers vs. traditional rectal thermometers. However, we found it to gave frequent inaccurate readings. Readings would change dramatically from one reading to the next (only a few minutes apart). We never trusted it as a result and always ended up taking rectal temps. Our doctor even said that the most accurate temps are rectal anyway and not to trust these ear thermometers completely. It ended up collecting dust on our changing table & we stick to traditional temps. A waste of money! Rating: - hard to find covers too! I have been looking for the covers as well. I have tried toys r us, and finally I went online. Well I found the covers and they are a new product at the babies rus.com website. I typed in thermometers and then clicked on the accu scan thermometer where it says to read more and then scroll down and the probe covers are one of the products. The are 4.99 a package. I also went to the Safety1st website and they sell them there too or at least they can tell you when they are located. They come in a pack of 20 and there was no price there. I hope this helps.
