Average Rating: Rating: - great gate for the $$ The is a great gate for the money. My husband installed it in no time. It is fairly attractive and safe/sturdy. The nicest feature is that the gate retracts somewhat so the overall gate width is narrow when the gate is open. We intalled this gate on the top of five steps. My husband stained a few pieces of wood and attached them with strong cable ties to the banister post. He then drilled the gate into this wood. We needed to do this because there wasn't enough flat, vetical room on the post of the railing to secure the gate latches. I don't think I would have been too comfortable with this if this was on the top of a flight of stairs. Overall, I am very happy with the quality, price and look of this gate. Rating: - Our FAVORITE!! We have 3 of them!! This gate is awesome! We have three of them and I (female) have installed them all myself with ease! It probably took me 15 minutes the first time and 10 minutes with the additional two we bought. And, the hardware is metal which is a huge plus! We had purchased a very pricey gate that had plastic hardware, and after replacing it three times I gave up and purchased this one. It comes with a template and it's simple to install - step by step instructions. As long as you line the gate up correctly (which is explained in the instructions) it opens and closes quickly and easily for adults, however my three children, the oldest of which is almost six, can't figure it out! And that's saying something because my three year old boy has figured out every contraption out there! We love it and I recommend it to everyone! Even when I'm in the store shopping and see people looking at gates I recommend it to them. Buy it! You'll LOVE it!! Rating: - We love it We have three of these gates(model 1050 without the remote control) in our house and two at Grammy's house. I will never buy/recommend cheap plastic or wood pressure gates again! We use them for babies, toddlers & pets. Taking your time to install the gate will insure smooth operation & we quickly learned to operate with one hand. It quickly removes when not in use (a great feature for grammy's house ~ the mounting hardware isn't very noticable) & additional hardware is available for around $10 to make this useful in more than one spot...It is very sturdy, but we do have one little cousin (4 years old) who has successfully climbed it(..)Ours are several years old and doing very well though. We are very pleased with it.
