I registered for a more expensive monitor that doubles as a sounds and lights toy for the baby, but when I didn't receive it as a gift I decided to go with a more economical monitor. I have been very satisfied with the Super Clear Double Receiver since Day 1. My baby is now 9 weeks old. I use it at night so that when she wakes up I can get her from her room to nurse. It is so clear I can hear her when she stirs, before she starts to cry which is great! I take a receiver into the bathroom when I take a shower in the morning while she is napping so I know if I need to hurry up. I try to leave both the monitor and the receivers plugged in (or off) otherwise. It does go through batteries quickly if left on without plugging it in. I haven't had to change mine yet though. The adapter plugs work for either the monitor or receivers so you can change positions easily. It is so clear my husband and I are amazed. The only time there is static is when you have the receiver right by the monitor (which is when you wouldn't need it on). We have even gone out to the backyard and can hear her breathing in her crib! I am so glad I didn't get the other monitor, I wouldn't want it now! Rating: - Great value and very clear! After reading all the negative reviews about this monitor set I was very leery about keeping it after receiving it as a gift. But after trying it out for the last 3 months we absolutely love it. The reception is VERY clear. If you don't want outside sounds picked up then just turn the volume down a little. You'll definitely be able to hear the baby. People seemed to complain about static as well, we experienced a hum at one time, but after adjusting the AB switch on the main unit it went away. I suggest giving this monitor a try to see if it'll work in your area/house. I'm guessing the quality of the reception is effected by where people live and maybe even appliances in the home. All the monitors reviewed seemed to have some problems with static or humming. It works great for us! And the two receivers are very handy though the battery life is quite short. Overall this is a great monitor!! Rating: - Wonderful product! Very pleased! This is a great product- worth every penny and then some. I originally owned last year's model of the Fisher-Price Sounds and Lights monitor. I used the Fisher-Price one for 8 months, until I just couldn't tolerate the increasingly horrible static- I could barely hear my son crying. I've been using the Super Clear Double Receiver Monitor by Safety 1st for more than a month and am very pleased. The reception is extremely clear- virtually no static. I own a two story home, so having two receivers is very convenient. Each receiver is equipped with a green power light, 4 red noise indicator lights, a red low battery indicator light, etc.. The transmitter and receivers can be used with either electrical adaptors or batteries. This is especially convenient in the event of a power outage. I definitely recommend this monitor. It's a great quality product at a great price.
